The Royal Naval Connection

The families lived lives around the port of Plymouth so there is bound to be a tradition of life at sea. Almost certainly involving smuggling in the early 19th Century but a lot of the men spent time at sea in the Royal Navy.

From the muster book of H.M.S. Victory in Chatham January 1806

While the family spent a lot of time at sea probably one of the most notable though not in the direct line was Charles Chappel who eventualy ended up as registrar for St Germans. This was taken from a late 19th Century Naval Biogrophy.
